9 types of developer portfolios to inspire you

On the blog you can find a basic and easily customizable portfolio template for developers who want to save time.

But I know many of you will prefer to take a little (or a lot) more time to build your own site/portfolio from scratch, and thus showcase all your abilities.

If you're one of those people but you're lacking inspiration, here are 9 different types of portfolios, each with different completion times!

Ultra-minimalist

I wanted to introduce this developer site/portfolio first because it clearly demonstrates that you don't need massive amounts of content or an overloaded style to create your own portfolio.

However, you need to be careful with ultra-minimalism because when you have very few graphic elements, each one needs to be well thought out!

Minimalist

Here's a portfolio style that stays simple, with a rather "technical" feel, and mainly gathers various content created online. I find that the effort/effectiveness ratio of this kind of site is truly optimal!

Free Illustrations

For those looking for a slightly more developed design than the previous minimalist versions, but without extensive graphic design skills, royalty-free illustrations, icons, and color palettes can be very useful, but watch out for missteps!

A portfolio can also be an opportunity to showcase your technical skills directly in the site's design, not just through the projects it presents.

Recreating a desktop interface system or other existing systems can really draw attention to your profile!

Netflix

The perfect blend of design, photo, video, animation, and web, I think this kind of portfolio can really hit the mark, but only if it's thought through from A to Z and the execution is precise down to the millimeter.

A "futuristic" design can quickly become tacky, overloaded, or even give off a rather "odd" and not always appealing vibe. But it's all about balance, and this portfolio is perfectly balanced, while still having genuine graphic character!
