A while ago we discovered a brilliant initiative called "Retronik", which aims to digitize and preserve as many computing and electronics magazines from the last century as possible, but also:

• Documentation for electronic components
• Thematic documentation (radio, TV, electricity, etc.)
• Manuals and personal computer programs

An important initiative

This kind of initiative, launched and supported here by the Silicium association, is very important, because without it, some of these documents—released before the arrival of the web for the most part—could disappear forever!

Silicium is an association founded in Toulouse in 1994 that works to preserve video game and computing heritage.

The site may not be very attractive by modern web design standards, but it has two essential qualities:

• Performance
• The astronomical amount of digitized documents

According to their site, Retronik has preserved more than 3,000 documents, viewable directly from the site or downloadable in PDF!

In any case, if you don't know what to do on a Sunday afternoon by the fireplace, take a few minutes to discover computing from the 20th century, or rediscover it and get a concentrated dose of nostalgia!
