What can you make with Unity2D in 20 hours of work? Here's the answer!

In 2021 I set myself a challenge: Develop a video game from A to Z using Unity2D, all live on Twitch, for 1 to 2 hours every Friday! And today this project is finished!
But what does "finished" actually mean?
My goal was to have a basic game but with a menu, a level selection, a playable level with enough mechanics, an interface, animations and sound. And the current version of the game contains all of that!
The available game mechanics are:
- Walking
- Jumping
- Picking up objects (apples, coins, keys)
- Equipping a weapon
- Attacking (with the weapon or the jump)
- Opening a door (if you have enough keys, by pressing a key)
- Finishing the level
- Dying (falling into a pit, because of enemies or on spikes)
And here's the final result, in video form:
Note that the recording glitched on some sounds and on the background music.
It took me 15 stream sessions, so about 20 hours of work to achieve this result, and I was of course lucky enough to be helped by my community during the streams!
The code
The project is available open-source on Github, here's the link:
You'll find the complete Unity project there (scripts, sprites, sounds, etc...), note that I don't own the rights to the images taken from Kid Paddle.
If you'd like to understand how the project evolved, or simply watch the stream replays, all the videos are available on Youtube right here:
