My essential item for programming right now

Under normal circumstances, I would have mentioned my office chair from our friends at Maxnomic, but oddly enough, my indispensable item is much, much more affordable.

I'm lucky enough to be a freelancer and, what's more, to have been working remotely for many years, which meant I didn't have to suffer through the horrors of improvised "remote work" at the start of the lockdown.

I do think of the people who had to work all day sitting on a stool, or set up on an ironing board (yes, I've seen it). Ah, the golden age of osteopaths...

I also went through phases like that at the beginning of my journey, working from my couch or my bed, but I had the chance to equip myself little by little over time.

Under normal circumstances, I would of course have mentioned my office chair from the folks at @Maxnomic, because it's literally what changed my working posture, but strangely enough, my must-have item is much, much more affordable.

It's the item I asked for first for my desk when I was employed in an open-space office, and it's also the first thing I bought when I became a freelancer.

Credit where credit's due, it was my wife who gave it to me on my first day as a freelancer! Thanks to her for knowing me so well

Those who know me have already guessed it, I'm of course talking about my... USB fan!

So yes, I know, it sounds like a gadget. But it's really not.

If you're sensitive to heat like me, and you work with people who can't stand AC or ventilation, a personal mini-fan can save your life (or at least your productivity)!

Honestly the power is really sufficient, and by keeping the screws properly tightened and adding quieter pads, it will go unnoticed (in any case it won't be any louder than a clogged-up laptop fan!)

For a price between €11 and €13 depending on the color, I recommend it to anyone who suffers from the heat, plus the metal finish is clean enough to fit in with your desk without looking like a gadget!
