Since the arrival of GDPR in 2016, the exodus from Google Analytics to other audience analytics platforms has only intensified.
The high point being undoubtedly the forced transition to version 4 of Google Analytics, which ended up convincing everyone.
Since July 2023, all of Code-Garage's audience has been analyzed by a European platform, one that above all respects user data: Plausible.
The advantages
Beyond its data management, the main advantage of Plausible is its ease of use, both for integration on a site and for using its dashboard.
Here's an example of a default dashboard to give you an idea:

The features
- Self-hostable or cloud platform (in Europe)
- Real-time statistics
- Comparison between different periods
- Analysis of your audience's location, as well as browsers, OS, page views, traffic sources, etc...
- Custom event management
Plausible even gives you the ability to embed your dashboard directly on your site to display your statistics transparently!
Data management
To understand in a bit more detail the rigor with which Plausible handles user data, a dedicated page is available on their site.
But in summary, here are a few points:
- The code is open-source, so entirely transparent about how it works
- The goal is to track trends in your site's traffic, not to track individual users
- No use of cookies
- Each visitor identifier is recreated daily
- No "cross-device" tracking
- No "cross-website" tracking
Pricing
Since the tool is self-hostable, pricing starts at €0, but if you want to switch to the cloud version, the annual subscription starts at €90, or €7.5 per month for 10,000 monthly page views, or €9 with the monthly subscription.
The advantage of this payment model is that if you manage 10 websites, each with light traffic, you won't pay more, because the basic subscription entitles you to 50 websites and as many administrators as you want!
