The History of Git

The creator of Git is Linus Torvalds, who is also the creator of the Linux Kernel, the kernel of the famous operating system created in 1991 that today powers the majority of servers available on the Internet.

In 2002, Linus integrated the proprietary version management tool BitKeeper into the project, notably to make it easier to manage external contributions to the software's source code.
